Where fonts work on Instagram (and where they don't)

Fancy fonts work in your bio, your name (the bold line above the bio), captions, comments, Notes, and Threads posts. They do notwork in your @username — Instagram handles only allow plain letters, numbers, periods, and underscores, and no generator can get around that. Story text is its own world: Instagram's Story editor has a built-in font picker, so you rarely need pasted fonts there, though they do work if you want a style the picker lacks.

Honest limitations

Two things are worth knowing before you style everything. First, search: Instagram matches the name field when people look you up, and a fully-styled name will not match a search for its plain spelling — if being findable matters, style only part of the name or keep the plain version in your bio. Second, accessibility: screen readers spell Unicode characters out one at a time, so a bio written entirely in fancy fonts is tedious for visually impaired followers — keep the essential lines plain. Beyond that, the usual caveats: very old devices may show boxes for rare characters, and the letter-emoji style can merge into country flags when two letters form a country code.
