Glitch Text Generator
Corrupt your text with stacked Unicode marks — from a subtle signal-loss flicker to full d̸a̶t̷a̕m̸o̶s̷h̕ — and copy it anywhere.
What is glitch text?
Glitch text is ordinary text that looks corrupted — as if the characters were damaged in transmission or rendered by a failing machine. The effect comes from Unicode combining diacritical marks: accents, strokes, and hooks that stack above, through, and below each letter. Because a glitch text generator piles dozens of these marks onto every character, the result looks broken while remaining real, selectable, copy-pastable text.
The heavier version of this effect is known as zalgo or cursed text — same technique, dialed past legibility into horror. This generator covers the whole range with one slider: keep it low for a readable glitch aesthetic, push it high for total corruption.
How to make glitch text
- Type your text — the glitched version appears instantly below it.
- Set the glitch intensity. Around 20–40% reads as a stylish flicker; 100% is unrecognizable static. The marks are chosen randomly, so hit Re-roll for a different corruption of the same text.
- Copy and paste it into Discord, TikTok, YouTube, a game chat, or anywhere else text is accepted.
Where glitch text gets used
Glitch text is a staple of gaming and horror aesthetics: creepypasta stories and ARGs, horror-themed Discord servers, Halloween event announcements, cyberpunk and vaporwave usernames, TikTok captions teasing something ominous, and stream titles that want to look haunted. Streamers and video editors also paste it into overlays and thumbnails for a datamosh look without firing up an image editor. At low intensity it doubles as a distinctive display-name style that still reads clearly.
Where it breaks (honest limitations)
Some platforms fight back. Username fields often reject or trim heavily stacked marks — drop the intensity until the name saves. Several apps deliberately cap how high combining marks can stack so glitch text cannot overlap neighboring lines, which flattens the effect but keeps your words intact. Screen readers announce the marks character by character, so avoid glitching whole paragraphs where accessibility matters. And search cannot see through the corruption — a glitched word will not match a search for its plain spelling.
Why is it free?
FreeToGenerate.com keeps every tool genuinely free. The glitch effect is applied entirely in your browser — no server, no account, no watermark, no cap on how much text you corrupt.
